The kind of connection you make time for.
Introduction
I’m drawn to depth, routine that feels indulgent, and company that becomes familiar in the best way. Easy to return to, and difficult to replace. If you’re here, you’re likely looking for more than just one evening..
A little hello, from my world to yours…
I’ve never been very good at liking things halfway. If a book is good, I’ll disappear into it for a day. If I find a fragrance I love, I’ll probably make you smell it. Put me behind the wheel of a beautiful old car and you may have trouble getting me out of it. Give me somewhere I’ve never been and I’ll want to know what’s around the next corner. I’m curious by nature, quick to laugh and shamelessly flirtatious, with an ever-growing list of things I want to learn, make, see and experience.
I grew up on the prairies and moved to Vancouver fresh out of school. Over the years, I’ve figured out what makes life feel good to me: creativity, new experiences, beautiful things, and enough time to properly enjoy them. I’m happiest with an un-rushed meal, a long bath, a book I can disappear into, or a trip with enough flexibility to wander somewhere simply because it looks interesting.
Of course, I’m not entirely interested in behaving myself. I have a quick wit, a penchant for skinny dipping, an unabashed love of F1 and classic cars, and I’m considerably more comfortable in my own skin than I am in clothes. My bookshelves contain respectable fiction, sci-fi and enough smut to keep me humble. You’re equally likely to find me curled up with a cup of tea as convincing you that whatever slightly questionable idea I’ve just suggested is, in fact, an excellent one.
I like the part of a date when we both forget we’re technically still getting to know each other. The first-date nerves have disappeared, dinner should probably have ended an hour ago, and we’ve somehow gone from polite introductions to laughing over something neither of us would bother explaining to anyone else. You’re comfortable enough to tell me the good story instead of the impressive one, I’ve figured out exactly what makes you blush, and neither of us has checked the time in a while.
My appreciation for the little things tends to follow me into my relationships too. I notice details. I remember the story you told me over dinner three months ago. I want to know what you’re excited about, what you’ve been working too much to enjoy, where you’ve always wanted to go and what makes you laugh when no one else is around. There’s something particularly appealing about getting past the polished first-date version of someone and discovering who they actually are.
I’m drawn to people who know how to enjoy themselves and don’t feel the need to rush through everything. Maybe we start with dinner in Vancouver. Maybe eventually I’m saving you the seat beside me on a flight somewhere neither of us has been. Maybe our dates become the familiar interruption to otherwise busy lives—the reservation we both look forward to, the ongoing joke nobody else understands, the stories that accumulate because somehow there’s always a next time.
There’s only so much chemistry you can predict from a page anyway.
Let's start with dinner and see where it takes us…
